2Everything2Terrible2: Tokyo Drift

2Everything2Terrible2: Tokyo Drift

Details:

Thursday June 26 – Everything is Terrible! (8pm) $10

For a couple years now, the cultural historians over at Everything is Terrible! have worked hard to dredge up all the groan-inducing infomercials, workout videos, PSAs and otherwise terrible footage from the '80s and '90s that they could find. They take forgotten VHS tapes of all kinds and edit them down into easily digestible viral videos. Everything Is Terrible! was started in 2007 as a way for a group of friends with a serious VHS habit to swap footage. It has since evolved into a full blown internet phenomenon, appearing on Videogum, Gawker, Buzzfeed, The Daily What, The Huffington Post, The Onion A.V. Club, Boing Boing, NPR, MTV, Web Soup, and G4’s Attack of the Show! Also featured in the Chicago Tribune and LA Weekly.

Movie Mashterpiece Theatre – Doctor Death

Movie Mashterpiece Theatre – Doctor Death

Details:

August Thursday 26 - Movie Mashterpiece Theatre – Doctor Death: Seeker of Souls (7pm) $9

The Phoenix National Comedy Theatre tackles another obscure B-Movie, this time the American curio Doctor Death: Seeker of Souls (1973) a la Mystery Science Theater 3000 in a mix of improvisation, comedy and a really bad movie. Meet the charming, flamboyant Doctor Death (the incredible John Considine), a 1000-year-old man who has mastered the art of "selective reincarnation", promising to keep one's soul alive forever! The catch? He needs a fresh body to host it for you, and finding willing volunteers is an impossibility. When Fred's beloved wife dies, he refuses to believe she is gone forever. Dr. Death's loyal assistant, Tana (Florence Marly, the original QUEEN OF BLOOD), offers a supernatural solution to return his wife to him...only to run into trouble when Dr. Death can't find a suitable body for her to reside in! Laughs galore will ensue as the National Comedy Theatre troupe performs a live accompaniment to this b-movie schlock.

[REC] 2

Details:

Thursday August 26 (8pm), Friday August 27 & Saturday August 28 – [REC] 2 (6, 8 & 10pm) $8 – 35mm

[REC] 2 (2009) The highly anticipated sequel to one of the scariest films of all time, [REC] 2 picks up 15 minutes from where we left off, taking us back into the quarantined apartment building where a terrifying virus has run rampant, turning the occupants into mindlessly violent, raging beasts. A heavily armed SWAT team and a mysterious government official are sent in to assess and attempt to neutralize the situation. What they find inside lies beyond the scope of medical science—a demonic nightmare of biblical proportions more terrifying than they could have possibly imagined. Above all it must be contained, before it escapes to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting world outside.
